Welcome to PopAir. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data when using our AI assistant application for macOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about our data practices.

PopAir is designed with privacy - first principles. Your chat messages are encrypted, we never store your AI inputs on our servers, and your security is our highest priority.

2. Data We Collect

We only collect essential information to deliver and support our AI services:

  • Account Data: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a unique user ID (UUID) stored securely in your macOS Keychain.
  • Subscription Data: If you subscribe to a paid plan, we collect payment information through our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy). We store subscription status and credit balances.
  • Usage Analytics: Anonymous, aggregated usage data is collected to understand feature usage and improve the product. This data cannot be traced back to individual users.
  • Error Logs: We use Sentry to collect anonymous error reports to identify and fix bugs. These logs do not contain your personal content.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

PopAir does NOT collect or store:

  • Your chat messages or AI conversation content on our servers
  • Your images, documents, or files you process through AI features
  • Your clipboard content or screen captures
  • Any content you translate, rewrite, or generate

4. Chat Message Encryption

Your chat messages are protected with dual - layer AES - 256 - GCM encryption. Messages are encrypted before leaving your device and stored encrypted in our database. Only you can decrypt and read your conversation history.

Your local chat history is stored on your Mac with encrypted storage. It is never uploaded to our servers in readable form.

5. How We Use Data

The data we collect is used for the following purposes:

  • Providing AI chat, image generation, translation, OCR, and other AI - powered features
  • Managing your subscription, credit balance, and account status
  • Processing payments securely through Lemon Squeezy
  • Improving product stability and performance through anonymous analytics
  • Sending important account notifications (subscription changes, security alerts)

6. Third - Party Services

PopAir integrates with the following third - party services:

  • AI Chat Providers: OpenAI (GPT), Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), xAI (Grok), DeepSeek, and others via OpenRouter and Groq. Your chat inputs are sent to these providers for processing but are not stored after the response is generated.
  • Image AI Providers: fal.ai for image generation and editing. Images are processed in real - time and not retained.
  • Payment Processing: Lemon Squeezy handles all payment processing. We do not store your credit card information.
  • Analytics: Anonymous usage analytics to improve the product.
  • Error Tracking: Sentry for crash reports and error monitoring.
  • Image Storage: Cloudflare R2 for temporary storage of generated images.

7. Browser Extension (PopAir Connector)

PopAir Connector is a browser extension that connects web content to the PopAir macOS application. The extension never collects or accesses any data without your explicit action. It only activates when you click a button or use a context menu.

  • Data Accessed (Only When You Request): The extension only accesses data when you explicitly trigger an action - such as clicking the PopAir button on an image, using the right-click menu, or clicking the YouTube transcript button. No background data collection ever occurs.
  • Data Processing: All data is transferred only to the local PopAir macOS application on your device. The extension does not send any data to our servers.
  • Data Storage: The extension does not store any user data in the browser. No cookies, local storage, or cached content is retained.
  • Permissions: The extension requires 'Access to all websites' permission to extract content from any web page you choose. 'Native messaging' permission is required to communicate with the PopAir macOS application.

8. Data Security

We implement robust security measures to protect your data:

All communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. Chat messages use AES - 256 - GCM encryption. Authentication tokens are stored securely in macOS Keychain. We follow security best practices and regularly review our systems.

9. Data Retention

AI inputs (chat messages, images, documents) are processed in real - time and not stored on our servers after processing. Your encrypted chat history can be deleted at any time from the app.

Account and subscription data is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is removed within 30 days.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your account data and subscription information
  • Delete your chat history from within the app
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export your data upon request
  • Opt out of non - essential analytics

11. Children's Privacy

PopAir is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.
